Do you want to know the most beautiful beaches of Ischia? On this page they are all listed, enjoy.
The largest island in the Gulf of Naples, Ischia, is one of the most popular destinations for tourists from all over the world: this beautiful island of volcanic origin has a lot to offer tourists of all ages and lovers of the most diverse landscapes. Ischia is full of valleys, mountains, thermal water springs, fumaroles, woods, cliffs and above all beaches.
Even when it comes to beaches, Ischia offers something for all tastes: fine sand beaches, pebble beaches, steep cliffs, wonderful sheltered bays and coves that can only be reached via paths overlooking the sea.
There are beaches suitable for families with children and more fashionable ones. In this in-depth analysis we will see which are the most beautiful beaches of Ischia, who they are suitable for and how to reach them. Here is a list of the most beautiful beaches in Ischia
Citara Beach
Lovers of fine sandy beaches certainly consider Citara to be the most beautiful on Ischia. It is a beach with very soft, fine and clear sand, bathed by crystal clear turquoise waters. The beach is protected towards the inside by many plants typical of the Mediterranean flora, but also by some typical of the tropical one, while on the left stands the promontory of Punta Imperatore. It is therefore a splendid protected bay located on the south-west side of Ischia, in the municipality of Forio: it is a beach suitable for families with children, thanks to the waters with a sandy and shallow seabed and the presence of numerous bathing establishments. In the immediate vicinity there is also the famous “Poseidon” thermal garden.
Maronti Bay
This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Ischia and is the longest on the whole island: three kilometers of very fine sand. The Bay of Maronti is protected by the promontory of Capo Grosso and numerous hills and can be reached by sea from the village of Sant’Angelo or by land coming from Barano: from here you have to follow a series of curves overlooking the sea until you reach the car parks . This bay alternates bathing establishments with stretches of free beach: in the rocky ridge there are inlets through which you reach the Cava Scura spring, an area of thermal waters and fumaroles.
The Sorgeto Bay.
Also in the municipality of Forio we find another very particular beach: the Sorgeto Bay, a small and protected beach of pebbles and rocks that is still wild, where you can swim all year round. In fact, here the thermal springs flow directly into the sea between the rocks and reefs, giving the waters the ideal temperature for bathing even in winter. You have to be very careful where you step, because some rocks are hot.
The Bay of San Montano.
Another beach suitable for families with children is the Bay of San Montano, which is located between
the municipalities of Forio and Lacco Ameno. It is a beach with the characteristic half-moon shape,
protected by thick vegetation, full of bathing establishments, restaurants and bars. Fine sand beach,
with very shallow sandy seabed, you have to walk for at least fifty meters to fully immerse yourself.
Near the beach is the Negombo Thermal Park with its natural thermal water pools.
Cava dell’Isola Beach
For young people it is one of the most beautiful beaches of Ischia, that of Cava dell’Isola is the trendiest
beach, the one frequented by young locals and tourists looking for adventures: it is located near the
Citara beach and it is the only sandy beach without bathing establishments. You access it by going
down a steep staircase and you are free to practically do anything, even play football. In the immediate
vicinity there are two bars which also function as restaurants.
Cartaromana Bay
This is the beach that lovers of history and archeology prefer, given that it is the beach that is located
immediately in front of the Aragonese Castle: furthermore, in its warm waters, here too there are
thermal springs that flow directly into the sea, there there are still the remains of Aenaria, an ancient
Roman town that was entirely submerged. This bay is located in the municipality of Ischia, in the village
of Ischia Ponte, on the east side of the island: a perfect beach also for couples and romantic people.
Cavagrado Beach
In the southern part of Ischia, in the small hamlet of Sant’Angelo, we find Cavagrado beach: a steep cliff
that ends in a thin strip of black sand. It can only be accessed via a very steep path made up of around
seventy steps: the sand is fine and soft and the seabed is rather shallow, but it is not a beach suitable
for children due to the difficult access. The beach is half free and half with bathing establishments,
restaurants and bars. It is a beach recommended for lovers of relaxation and tranquility.
La Scannella
It is not a beach, but terraces with sunbeds and umbrellas and thermal water pools above sea level. A
cliff accessible from Panza, a hamlet of the municipality of Forio, via a very steep path of about three
hundred meters, or by sea, with one of the characteristic taxi boats or with a boat. It is a place for
lovers of peace and tranquility, also perfect for snorkeling or discovering the rocky coast by canoe.
The Scarrupata
It is a strip of pebble beach located between San Pancrazio and Capo Grosso, reachable by boat and for
this reason it is a truly reserved and isolated area. There is also an impervious path to reach it, but our
advice is to go there by sea. It is a strip of pebble beach located between San Pancrazio and Capo
Grosso, reachable by boat and for this reason it is a truly reserved and isolated area. There is also an
impervious path to reach it, but our advice is to go there by sea.
The location surrounded by volcanic rocks and worn by atmospheric agents is suggestive. The crystal
clear sea and spontaneous vegetation blend and create a mix of indescribable colours.
San Francesco beach (Forio d’Ischia)
Long, sandy and easily accessible, this beach also has several beach clubs and restaurants and offers a
variety of water sports. It is located north of Forio under the Punta Caruso lava pit. Small free beach,
suitable for children, although in some places the sea becomes deep after a few meters. Very busy in
July and August. Sunny until sunset, wind from north-northwest.
Lido beach (Ischia Porto)
just 150 meters from the Piazzetta of Ischia Porto, this beach extends along the coast of Ischia Porto:
it starts behind the port and ends almost at Ischia Ponte (which is located on the Pescatori beach) only
a few hundred meters in front of the castle bridge. Varied, especially in the high season very well
visited, offers numerous beach establishments, fine sand and various recreational activities. Easy to
reach, plenty of free beach, suitable for children, very crowded in July and August, sunny from early in
the morning until around 5pm in the afternoon, wind from the north-east and west.
Fisherman’s Beach (Ischia Ponte)
200 meters from the ancient village of Ischia Ponte, this beach was used only by fishermen
(fishermen). Varied, especially in high season very well visited and with many stalls. Easy to get to but
not much beach. Fine sand, suitable for children, very crowded in July and August.
Spiaggia degli Inglesi – Engish Beach (Port of Ischia)
Small beach between Ischia Porto and Casamicciola (Sant ‘Alessandro), about 800 meters from Ischia
with relatively fine sand. It is not always very busy and offers a beach with restaurant. You can reach it
on foot following the main road between Ischia Porto and Casamicciola along a path to the
Sant’Alessandro hill or the path near the investor “Banchina Olimpica” (behind Palazzo d’Ambra –
ticket office) follows; from the sea it is possible to reach the beach with the “Ischia Barche” taxi boat
(departure from Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte). Lots of free beach, suitable for children, as the sea is
gradually deep, except for the month of August not very crowded. North facing and not very sunny,
best bathing time from 11am to 3pm or 4pm.

Some practical advice:
In midsummer choose a breezy beach. If you visit it in the afternoon, choose a beach oriented south-west (Spiaggia dei Maronti in Barano), west (Beaches of Citara, Cava dell’Isola, Chiaia and San Francesco all in Forio) and west – north-west (San Montano beach in Lacco Ameno), because the mistral breeze blows on these sides.
Generally speaking, all the beaches of Ischia are very crowded in August, less so in July; a “crowd-free” swim is generally possible until the first half of June and the beginning of September.
Those hoping to find a quiet stretch of coast in August will have to organize themselves by using taxi boats to be transported to one of the coasts of the island that are impossible to reach by land where, however, there are no stretches of sandy beach but only stones or rocks
